Indulge me while I get this off my chest!
We are all inundated with the candidate mailers, Facebook posts, and now text messages! Almost all Lake County Republican candidates should be ashamed of themselves for campaigning on mostly negative mailers/texts as well using PAC monies (look at your mailers to see who is behind the funding by going to TransparencyUSA.org website). Only a few are NOT posting negative messaging and using their own monies. Most are using PAC monies and doing negative smearing. Look carefully at what you are getting and who is printing it.
One really stands out because there is no negative messaging back – The smear campaign against Tom Vail is laughable. It is from a PAC out of Tampa but dig deeper it is based in Midland TX! Why would they care about someone in Lake County? Well, the Floridians for Senior Care PAC monies were mostly contributed by major Healthcare companies (Big Money special interest group)! Hmmm. Probably lobbyists from Tallahassee who have heard Tom Vail’s conservative government approach and want a glib “yes, man” to vote their way.

- Trump Flag Waving rallies
- Lake County GOP Treasurer and Vice Chair
- Lake County RLC Chair and now State Chair
- Fought for Pro-life
- Promoted the Black Robe Regimen (Christian Values in Politics)
- Speaks out against radical Islam and Sharia Law
- Promotes the John Birch Society ideals
- Fights for Election Integrity
- Staunch supporter of our Constitution
- Tom Vail is an Army National Guard veteran
- His sons were both pages in Tallahassee for his now opponent Taylor Yarkosky
- His wife is an American citizen the CORRECT way and knows the constitution better than most reading this blog post
Below are a few questions I found that someone else wrote but make a lot of sense to determine if your candidate is what he states he is while campaigning!
VALUES Do yours align with mine? Do you understand how limited government, individual rights and responsibilities, and free markets apply to the job you seek?
CAMPAIGN ETHIC You must demonstrate that you want the job at least as much as we may want to hire you. Are you accessible? Did you canvas your constituents, or did you participate in forums for your office, the community, and issues of importance? Did you exploit social media-mailers, text messaging, etc? Are you using PAC monies?
YOUR TEAM If you can’t discipline your supporters, focus your message, limit negative messaging to issues vs personality assassination or labeling others, why should you work for us? We don’t want anyone who appears to focus on pandering to which way the winds are blowing on single issues. We don’t care if your team, advisors, or even donors have candidates for other offices who are clearly handled by them and who we don’t support. Have you demonstrated that you run your own ship and will if elected or will you just sit down and shut up and cave to the lobbyists?
Some food for thought as you head to cast your vote! Is what you see in front of the curtain the same as what’s behind the curtain? Or are you getting a bait and switch?
