Lake County GOP Meeting January

The January meeting was held in Leesburg at the Venetian Gardens on January 26th. In case you missed it, here are a few important take-aways.

  1. There were no officers (Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, or Treasurer) present for our meeting. Only ONE board member present was present, our State Committeeman, Chuck Benoit.  Per our County Model Constitution (CMC), Article IV, Section 4 “If none of the said officers are present, the membership, by a majority vote, shall name the presiding officer.” However, Monica Wolford was chosen by Chairman Yarkosky to run this meeting in advance!
  2. Monica advised us that she would be chairing the next meeting in February due to legislative duties of the Chairman.  Making you aware this is a violation of the CMC referenced above.
  3. We did NOT have a quorum so this will not count towards the six mandatory meetings needed. It is considered an informational meeting only.
  4. Monica did NOT know whether the February Meeting would still be held on the 23rd.  She was reminded that Chairman Yarkosky committed to 30 day notice before changing a meeting date and that we are less than that now.  She will advise the Chair.
  5. Ken McCard reminded everyone that George Fest is coming up Feb 21st and 22nd.  Contact him to volunteer.
  6. Sue Parent did inform the members on Election Integrity Bills.  HB 985 requires voter registration and ID prior to Election Day.  However, write your representatives about HB 991 which it two steps backwards – it eliminates human review of ballots (only machine verifying a machine) and also eliminates public record requests for voter rolls (which is how we found voter fraud).  She will present the Election Integrity Resolution at the February meeting.  Hopefully, we will have a quorum.
  7. Ken McCard wants the E-Verify Resolution on the February agenda as well.
  8. Watch your email for a “Meeting Date Poll” from Lake GOP.  Board is looking for input to resolve conflicts and provide for more members to attend.
  9. Committees were announced and sign-up sheets provided. Committees are: Campaign, Policy, Outreach, Membership, Voter Registration, By-laws, Election Integrity, and Fundraising

Watch your email for further notifications regarding the poll and meeting dates.
