Federal Judge over rules HB1205

The law, HB 1205, changed how sponsors of a proposed constitutional amendment can collect and turn in petitions, imposing new deadlines and penalizing violators with hefty fines or felony charges. One portion expands the white-collar crime of racketeering to election code violations. Others require petitioners to register with the state if they gather at least 25 petitions and require all circulators to be Florida residents and U.S. citizens.

Attorney General Uthmeier is coming to the next LCREC meeting, on Monday, July 21st, we NEED to make him aware that Petitioners seeking signatures for petitions to get amendments on the ballots should only be Florida residents and US citizens! We need the Attorney General in Florida to fight aggressively to keep this sensible/practical piece of legislation fully in effect!  Let’s make our voices heard on Monday!
